The first national anthem of the NFL season has not been the subject of a large-scale demonstration, even though an NFL policy has been filed.
The only thing close to a protest came from Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett. He was walking near the bench during the anthem and then sat down just before the end of the song. Other Eagles who have demonstrated, including Malcolm Jenkins, have appeared at the national anthem. Jenkins raised his fist at the anthem last season, but he did not do it on Thursday.

NBC presented the anthem, performed by the local band Boyz II Men. The network did not show Bennett.
The failed NFL policy in suspense
The anthem would not be a story yet if it was not for the NFL Think about this: The NFL wanted history to disappear, to bring to life a policy that no one really liked and that politics is not even in force. The NFL had to go back to have discussions with the NFLPA, and the issue was not resolved despite some meetings last month.
That's how we arrived in the first week with players able to demonstrate what they thought was good, like last season, but with even more attention because of a policy that had to be put on the back burner. . The NFL's faux pas on the national anthem can never be underestimated. It's amazing.
But the players have always said that the story should not be the one who kneels or raises the fist, but what they do in their community. They have always tried to bring attention to their message. Maybe that's why almost every member of both teams defended the anthem.
Players want to focus on the problems
Prior to the start of the NFL season, the Players Coalition published an article in the Players' Tribune describing its efforts to address the problem of social injustice. They have done a lot in their communities not just to focus on the issues they have raised, but to bring about change.
Because the critics of the players have been aggressive in not listening to the message that led to the protests, the players must continue to repeat themselves. They also feel the need to continue their demonstrations to continue to draw attention to the issues that concern them.
Michael Bennett only player not to pass through the anthem
Bennett demonstrated the anthem for much of last season while he was with the Seattle Seahawks. Last year, Bennett said the Las Vegas agents called him "a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time" and he used excessive force after Bennett and others thought they had heard shots in a casino.
Bennett was kneeling at the anthem but had risen last year before a match against the Arizona Cardinals when the NFL was honoring the army.
"It was to mean that we are all with the military, and that we love them," Bennett told the Tacoma News Tribune last year. "There was this story that we do not care about the military. Today, we honor the army and we wanted to honor the military.
"I know a lot of people did not expect us to stand up. They have this story about us that is not true. I have a lot of family who was military. There was no mention of the army. If there is an opportunity to support them and to be grateful for what they do and the sacrifices we want to be able to do it.
