The former Michigan quarterback on the subject, Jim Harbaugh, has not yet

Brian Griese, an American football analyst and former Michigan champion, who will also compete in the Jets Monday night game, breaks the first week of college football with Justin Terranova of the Post.

Q: Which team was the most impressive and the most disappointing for you in the first week?
A: Certainly, I think LSU raised some eyebrows. A year ago, Miami had a lot of talent and a very successful team and LSU started a new quarter in Joe Burrow of the Ohio State. You did not really know what it was going to give. Michigan was a disappointment. There were a lot of expectations from a new quarterback in Shea Patterson, a lot of new coaches on the attack and you were hoping I was at least as a fan and alum, that you would see something different. He looked very similar and stagnant.

Q: So, Jim Harbaugh's review is right?
A: Absolutely, that's right. He would say that's just right. You are now 1 to 6 against your rivals and they did not bring Jim Harbaugh to Michigan for that. They have a playoff caliber defense and I think they have come to a point where there is such an imbalance between the attack and the defense that has affected the entire culture of the team. They must score points. That's the game

Q: Are you sure that Nick Saban has the right plan for his shifts?
A: He came out this week and said Tua Tagovailoa would start the next game and they would use Jalen Hurts in some packages. This is likely to happen in Saban and Alabama. So, in Nick Saban's mind, he made the decision and I think it's probably the right one.

Q: How does Tagovailoa change this team?
A: Tua opens his offensive. Jalen is more of a "running back" than a quarter. Last year, he struggled to throw the ball with some consistency. When Tua entered the league game last season, you saw what happened. They are so deep and talented at every post that when you place a quarterback who can throw the ball on the field, be precise and launch the offensive as it should, you open even more the current game. They have won championships with great defenses and do not spill the ball in attack. With Tua, they do not have to win this way.

Q: Which player opened his eyes in the first week?
A: I have participated in the Auburn-Washington match and there are some basic players. Salvon Ahmed, in the race back, was really impressive for Washington and ready for a rush season. Everyone is talking about Myles Gaskin, but I think this kid is just as talented. and has a bright future ahead of him.
