Ariel Winter remembers her co-star and deceased friend, Burt Reynolds.

The 20-year-old actress played with Reynolds in the 2017 movie The last star of the movie, and both formed a close link on the board.

Following the announcement of Reynolds' disappearance Thursday, Winter took Instagram to share a series of photos of her with her co-star.

"The world has lost a legend today," she wrote. "Not only on the screen, but also in life. Burt Reynolds was an amazing man for everyone he met and I am deeply grateful to have been able to spend time with him as I have done it.

Winter continued to praise the veteran actor, adding, "They do not do it anymore like him – he was really the last star of the movie. Burt was a loving and loving soul who could brighten up your day with a simple smile, and always care about how his day would go or simply cheer you up with a lovely compliment.

She finished the message on an uplifting note, writing, "Although today is a sad day, Burt has lived an incredibly busy life and even though he is no longer there, he is still in our hearts and our minds. You will love and I always miss you Burt.

Reynolds died of a heart attack Thursday at the age of 82. His family was at his side.

Before his death, Modern family actress opened at ET to work with Reynolds in April 2017 at the Tribeca Film Festival.

"Obviously, I was nervous about working with such a legend as Burt Reynolds," Winter told ET at the time. "I mean, he's really the most incredible man. He is wonderfully sweet and incredibly talented, and he is truly the nicest person.

After his death, stars from all walks of life paid tribute to the actor, including his legendary co-stars Sally Field and Dolly Parton.
