A young doctor from a California hospital suddenly found the nurse, who had treated her prematurely nearly three decades ago. The beautiful story of their reunion in the same hospital, where the two now work together, is widely shared online.
Vilma Wong, a neonatal intensive care nurse, had helped when Brandon Seminatore was born prematurely at only 29 weeks old. When Seminatore arrived at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto for her residency 28 years later, Wong was intrigued by "her family name seemed very familiar," writes the hospital on their website. .
"I kept asking questions, for example where he had come from and he told me that he was coming from San Jose, and that in fact, he was a premature baby born in our hospital, "Wong said.
"To confirm my suspicions, I asked him if his father was a police officer. And there was a great silence. Then he asked me if I was Vilma. I said yes!
The news of their reunion became viral after the hospital shared two photos of Wong and Seminatore – one during her 40-day stay as a baby while she was the main nurse for her care and another now.
The website said her mother had asked her to look for "Vilma Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit", but that she had retired now. Both were delighted with the meeting.
"Meeting Vilma was a surreal experience," said the 28-year-old doctor, describing the meeting.
