Twenty-eight years after his untimely birth, Brandon Seminatore found the nurse who cared for him as a first – she is part of the team where he resides.

Seminatore is in second year residency in Child Psychology at Stanford University. Last month, he began a rotation at Packard Children's Hospital, where he was born prematurely at 29 weeks and spent more than a month in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Seminatore recalled this scary moment through her parents. "I've heard stories of what it was like and understood my parents' concern for my health," he said to BuzzFeed News. "For example, there were times when I stopped breathing and even became blue."

A nurse named Vilma Wong was his main guardian at the beginning of his life and he apparently impressed him.

Nearly three decades later, when Seminatore joined the team, Wong approached her because she thought her last name sounded familiar. When Seminatore mentioned that he was a first at Packard Children's Hospital, Wong remembered why she recognized his name. "To confirm, I asked him if his father was a police officer," said Wong. "There was a great silence, then he asked me if I was Vilma. I said yes. "

Seminatore's mother had told her to look after her, but thought she would already be retired. The two took a picture together and sent it to her parents. They responded with a picture of Wong holding a tiny Seminatore on his lap.

The hospital shared the two photos together in a #WaybackWednesday message of the week on the heartwarming meeting. The position has since been viewed more than 35,000 times and shared nearly 5,000 times.

Wong says that she was shocked at first, but then thrilled. "I took care of him almost 30 years ago and now, as a pediatric resident with the same population, he was part of his family," she said.
