A teenager from Yosemite National Park in Jerusalem was killed this week while attempting to take a selfie in the famous Nevada Fall, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Mariposa County Coroner's Office identified the 18-year-old as Tomer Frankfurter.

Park officials said the Tuesday incident was under investigation and would not provide details on the circumstances of the fall. But the Times of Israel reported that Frankfurter's mother had stated that her son had apparently lost balance by trying to take a selfie on the edge of Nevada Fall.

The waterfall is found in the Yosemite Valley, which was closed for about three weeks this summer due to the deadly Ferguson fire nearby. He reopened on August 14th.
