Abby Hernandez was only 14 years old when she was abducted while she was returning from school in 2013.
For nine heartbreaking months, she was detained in a sea container by a New Hampshire monster.
"He said, 'Call me' master '," she told ABC in an interview broadcast Friday night. He said, "You know, I'm thinking of finding something more human for you." keep silent, I think of a shock collar. "
She later said that he had put the collar around his neck and told him to scream. When she did, it shocked him.
ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts told Inside Edition that Hernandez's story resonated with her.
"I have a girl who is the same age as Abby. Hear her talk about what she lived and how she was able to survive and how she was preyed on – it affected me, not only as a journalist but also as a mother. " , she said.
The horror has ended as suddenly as it began. Fearing that the police are about to stop him, his abductor, Nathaniel Kibby, released her on a lonely New Hampshire road in 2014.
"I remember looking up and laughing and being so happy," she told "20/20".
The security cameras captured the moment she found her way back a few moments before she found her mother.
Hernandez's astonishing story has striking parallels with the kidnapping of Kala Brown in 2016, which was held for over two months in a container on a South Carolina farm by serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, until it is discovered by the police.
Police used bolt cutters to free Brown who, like Hernandez, survived the test and is now building a new life.
The Hernandez interview will be broadcast on Friday, September 7th at 10pm. AND on ABC "20/20".
