A US postage stamp commemorating John Lennon's legacy was unveiled Friday at a ceremony in Central Park, New York, in the presence of Beatles legend widow Yoko Ono and her son, Sean Lennon .

"I know my father would have been really pleased to be accepted, officially so, on a stamp," Sean Lennon said at the event. "About as official as possible, I think."

John Lennon was a renowned philatelist: in 2016, Lennon's personal stamp collection, which he started as a child, was presented at the World Stamp Show in New York City after a residency at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum.

Lennon's US postage stamp uses the same shot of Bob Gruen-photograph Walls and Bridges photo shoot in 1974; Gruen also spoke at the unveiling of the stamp Friday, The Associated Press reports. The "Forever" stamp is also designed to look like a 45 "vinyl, because a disc that comes out of a sleeve appears at the top of the sheet of 16 stamps.

The John Lennon stamp is available on order now via USPS.

"Everyone loves to listen to John's songs, and I'm very proud of them, but also the fact that that day, Imagine and you are here. It's amazing, "said Ono at the USPS ceremony.

Imagine: the ultimate collection, an anthology of the box set of the famous 1971 LP Imagine, is scheduled for October 5.
