Franz Thalhammer, a prominent resident of Munich, asked why so many visitors felt the need to imitate the Bavarian traditional clothing Dirnd badly.
Mr. Thalhammer said this week: "With young women, this often looks like porn dresses, short, bulky and cheap equipment.
"It has nothing to do with identity."
Revelous Bavarian outfits, synonymous with the world's most popular beer festival, have gained popularity over the last decade.

Mr. Thalhammer said: "A dirndl is something good, it can make almost everyone handsome. But some of the dresses you see these days are crazy.
"You go into a tent and it's full of Australian and paralytic Italians and they paid £ 224 for a complete Bavarian outfit and think they're Bavarian.
"It's like I'm walking around half naked and I'm saying I'm Australian."
British disguise shops reported that customers now demand "sexier" versions than traditional outfits.

Kensington Carnival Store Director Ulku Stephanides said, "For women, we have either knees or shorter dresses than our knees. People had a normal size.
