HAMPTON, N.-H. (AP) – Two Massachusetts women are pursuing a New Hampshire hotel at the center of a legionella outbreak.

WMUR-TV reports that Louise Pare of Gardner and Celeste Billington of Templeton have been diagnosed with legionellosis after spending three days at Sands Resort starting Aug. 3.

Fifteen people were confirmed to have contracted legionellosis in Hampton in late July or early August, including one deceased.

Legionellosis is a bacterial pneumonia spread by the inhalation of contaminated water droplets. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the bacteria in the shower heads or sinks in three bedrooms, a hot tub, a water heater and an outdoor shower.

The suit was filed Friday in the Rockingham Superior Court. The owner of the hotel declined to comment on Saturday.
