Donald Trump told Apple he should manufacture his products in America if he wants to avoid tariffs on imports from China.
The US president told the world's most valuable company, "Start building new plants now. Exciting."
After writing to government officials, Apple explained that the proposed import levies would raise prices for a "wide range" of its gadgets, including its watches, headsets, smart speakers, chargers , cables and cords.
"As all tariffs turn out to be a tax on US consumers, they will increase the cost of the Apple products our customers rely on for their daily lives," said the company in a letter to the Office of the United States Trade. Representative.
He added, "The burden of the proposed tariffs will be much heavier for the United States than for China."
But Mr. Trump responded by saying"Apple prices could rise because of the huge tariffs we impose on China – but there is a simple solution where there is a zero tax, and even a tax incentive. Make your products in the United States instead of China. "
Apple – which became the world's first trillion dollar company last month – is highly vulnerable to a two-way trade war between the two countries.

Au moins 25 personnes ont été tuées et 30 autres blessées dans l'incident. Les bureaux de vote au Pakistan ont été ouverts aux élections générales pour environ 105 millions d'électeurs. Les électeurs devront choisir parmi 11 000 candidats pour élire 272 membres du Parlement pour le prochain mandat.
