Palestinian shot dead after trying to sabotage Gaza fence

IDF forces shot dead a Palestinian on Sunday who had approached the Gaza barrier and tried to sabotage him.

The IDF spokesman said the Palestinian was evacuated for medical treatment before succumbing to his injuries.

Earlier, the Palestinian tried to sabotage the security fence several times.

In addition, the IDF arrested three Palestinians attempting to cross the border fence in northern Gaza. They were caught carrying two knives.

The three men were arrested by the security forces.

GOC South Command Commander General Herzli Halevi said on Sunday morning, "We will not see total calm over the next decade in the Gaza Strip."

"I think it will be a mistake to deceive ourselves, the terrorized Gaza is developing capabilities, we are stronger than that, but from time to time it will try to control us."

"Incidents will be reviewed by the relevant levels of command. Cases in which two Palestinians have been killed will be transferred for examination to the IDF staff, "said the IDF statement.

"During violent riots that broke out along the fence in the Gaza Strip yesterday, IDF soldiers were forced to use dispersal measures.

"The rioters burned tires and threw stones and explosive devices at the forces, and we know that two people – who were involved in violent clashes on Friday – were killed," the statement said.

An IDF plane on Friday attacked a Hamas observation post in northern Gaza in retaliation for the "March of Return" demonstrators throwing grenades at soldiers near the border fence.

In addition, the IDF attacked a Hamas station in southern Gaza, responding to rioters causing serious damage to infrastructure.
