Homicide investigators continue to spot a house after five people, two women and three children, were found dead in a Perth home.

A man in his early twenties went to a regional police station on Sunday, the officers then going to the home on Coode Street, a suburb of Perth, Bedford, where the five bodies were found.

Metro Deputy Commissioner Paul Steel told reporters that the police arrived home around noon local time to find women and children among the dead.

It is believed that the man was known to the victims by the media, citing neighbors, saying that a couple with three little girls, a twins aged three and 18 months, lived at home.

The specialized judicial police should continue Monday a close examination of the scene of the crime.

"Depending on the size of the crime scene, it will take a while and it could take several days," Steel told reporters.

"The police have located the bodies of a number of dead people, including women and children," he said but will not say how they died or whether any weapons were found. Neither could he confirm the age, sex and relationship of the deceased.

It remains to be seen how long the agencies were there, Steel said. "It's a tragic thing when incidents like this happen, it sends a wave into the community of Western Australia."

The man in question remains in detention and is interrogated by the police.
