THEY grew up just 25 kilometers from one to the other in New York – one in a Bronx apartment, the other in a Queens home.
But together, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, New York's rap royalty, are like oil and water.
The ugly rivalry between two of the best rap women erupted for more than a year before exploding last Friday when hip-hop fans seized WWE at New York Fashion Week. York Post.
First, a security guard from Minaj nudged Cardi's head in the lobby of the New York Plaza Hotel.
Cardi then threw one of his high red heels to Minaj.
At one point, the new mom Cardi shouted at Minaj, "Let them talk about my daughter again!
"B *** h, come on" B *** h come! Cardi – who gave birth to a girl, Kulture, with her husband Offset of Migos in July – can be heard in another video of fans.
Minaj would have "not even flinched" while Cardi B was excluded from the party.
Cardi was, of course, hampered by his lost shoe. But the look on his face was triumphant.
The clash of the pair dates back to May 2017, when Minaj launched Offset – and her rap group Migos – in her collaboration with Katy Perry, called Swish Swish.
"Stupid rap cattle give me more checks,
"My life is a movie, I'm never ready,
"Me and my friends (no, not Offset),
"Swish Swish, awww I upset them!"
Minaj's jab, 35, did not play well with 25-year-old Cardi, who took for Instagram Live at that time dishes from "fake" people in the industry.
"A b *** h like me, I was happier when I was makeup in the hood," she wrote.
"It's really wrong. When I was a Bronx regular – a balaclava – when someone was wrong for me, it was cool because I could approach her and hit her.
A few months later, Minaj apparently did another search to her enemy in a verse for the song No flag, which also includes Offset and Migos.
"Lil" b *** h,
"I heard these labels do another me,
"All you have little hoe is" cause of me "
Minaj quickly denied that the words spoke of Cardi.
Minaj and Cardi have continued to question each other throughout the past year, making headlines once again after playing on the same song, Motorsport, in August 2017.
Minaj, a veteran of rap, said the newcomers did not give him the respect he needed.
"The only thing with Cardi that really hurt me was the first interview that she did after Motorsport came out, "Minaj told Zane Lowe of Beats Radio 1 last April.
"I remember when I came into the game, if a woman of that caliber had played a role with me, I would just sing their praises and say thank you."
Cardi retorted that she had already given the rapper enough respect.
"I've already said that she was an extraordinary artist, paid tribute to her," she also told Lowe.
"What are people waiting for? You want me to say something wrong. I do not fall for that.
Their rivalry was exacerbated when Minaj appeared to insult Cardi's talent during an interview in August with Jay-Z's Tidal streaming service.
"It's silly now to compare myself to women, because there are no women who can come in right now [and] realistically can put the statistics in place, "she said.
A few hours later, Cardi responded on Instagram Live, saying that she was "tired of people who were trying to discredit me."
During the opening ceremony, she presents herself as The Empress – a nod to Minaj's new album, The Queen.
Minaj seemed to rub more salt into Cardi's wounds – with scathing lyrics on the album.
"They went to wizards to bury Barbie,
"But I double, kill b **** es, bury the body."
The fans were convinced that the artist was saying "Bardi" – the nickname of Cardi – instead of "body".
Animosity persists despite their mutually difficult education.
Minaj's father worked as a financial executive, her mother in the payroll, and they were both decidedly religious gospel singers. But his father fought against drugs and alcohol, fueling a violent temper that led him to burn the family home when Nicki was four years old.
"He was trying to kill my mother. She went out before she burned everything down, "she said. Details magazine.
At 16, Cardi claims to have joined the infamous gang Bloods; at 19, she was a stripper.
She finds it difficult to help her escape poverty and a violent relationship.
"It really saved me a lot of things. When I started undressing, I went back to school, "she said.
Friday's wild fight took place after Minaj went to Cardi about his skills as a parent, which angered the rapper, punching, pulling hair and even throwing cherry red high heels.
But others say that Cardi was perhaps looking to fight when she "aggressively approached" the queen of self-proclaimed rap and said, "Let me tell you something" while she was heading towards Minaj, reported TMZ.
When the security personnel tried to break the fight, Cardi was bent in the forehead, leaving her with a large lump on her forehead and a torn red dress.
"He was completely torn in the back. Her ass showed, "said a witness at the New York Post from the scene. Coincidentally, a day earlier, Minaj's dress was also torn, revealing her own back.
Minaj was "completely unshakeable" after the roar at The Plaza and told the police that she did not wish to press charges against her enemy, sources told the police. New York Post.
She continued to party after Cardi was taken away.
"Nicki went through the crowd in the ballroom with his team," said a guest.
"She was with her bodyguards saying" hi "to people … then she went to an area with sofas and watched Christina Aguilera play.
Outside the event, Cardi told the police that she did not want to make a complaint either.
"No," she said. "I just want to leave."
But she was not totally on the phone.
"I let a lot of things flow! I let you sneak in, I let you lie about me, "Cardi said in an Instagram post Sunday morning.
"But when you talk about my child, you choose to make comments about me as a mother, comment on my abilities to take care of my daughter when all the bets are done !!
"B **** are talking s ** t they rap but in real life they p *** y! It's really for entertainment! Added the rapper.
