Five people found dead in Perth, Australia

The bodies of two women and three children were found in a house in the suburbs of downtown Perth, Australia.

Around noon it was heard that a man, who is believed to be in his twenties, went to his father's home before traveling to a regional police station. Western Australia located hundreds of miles north of Perth.

It was believed that he was providing information that was driving police into a house on Coode Street in Bedford.

Upon entering, police discovered the bodies of two adult women and three young children.

The police did not know how long the bodies were in the house before their discovery.

The neighbors were informed that they had not seen the family for a week.

The man who went to the regional station is in custody.

Deputy Commissioner Paul Steel of the metropolitan area described the incident as "heartbreaking tragedy".

"This is a tragic event and it will undoubtedly have an impact not only on the family and friends of the deceased, but on the community as a whole, those first responders who have to witness a scene with dead people," did he declare. I said.

"I can assure people that WA police forces are conducting a thorough and appropriate investigation to determine what events led to this tragic case.

"The homicide squad currently has detective teams on the ground, accompanied by forensic scientists who are meticulously scanning this crime scene."

Steel could not provide any details on the age of the deceased or comment on the relationship between the deceased.

"The exact numbers and gender are unknown at this stage," he said.

Neighbors said they thought the children living in the house included a three-year-old and two 18-month-old twins. A neighbor also suggested that an elderly woman lived at home or "went there often".

Steel pointed out that it was very early in the investigation so that it could not provide a lot of details.

A distraught neighbor near the scene said that she often saw children playing in the front yard of the house.

"It's so sad, they have kids old enough to go to elementary school and I thought it could not be," she said.

"It's disgusting to think that someone could do that."

Maria Manfredini lived behind the property at the center of the tragedy.

"It shocked us completely," she said. "It's just horrible at all levels."

Manfredini said that she did not personally know the occupants of the house, but that she often greeted it by the way.

"It's a very close community," she said.

"He has always been so calm and peaceful, we would never have expected anything like that.

"I'm still in shock, I'm deeply saddened by what happened."

Residents revealed that the streets and the house in question seemed normal when they left their own house late Sunday morning.

Shine Joseph said the roads were clear when he left his home on Fort Street.

"We left for shopping at 11am and the roads were actually clear," he said.

"When I came back … the roads were all blocked, I had to take a different path to get home."

Whole blocks around the crime scene at the corner of Coode and Fort Streets were cordoned off until around 5:30 pm Sunday (local time).

A large police presence would remain on the street as investigations continue.

It was agreed that the police were examining CCTV footage of neighboring homes in front of Coode Street House.

Steel said the police were trying to identify relatives to prevent them. The police would remain on the scene for several days and the officers of the homicide brigade would interview the man in detention.

He did not answer the question of whether weapons had been found at the scene.

"It is tragic that incidents like these are happening," he said.

The tragedy occurred after a murder-suicide to the family at Margaret River earlier this year.

Just two months ago, an Ellenbrook mother and her two children were also found dead in their suburban home.

Michelle Petersen, 48, her 15-year-old daughter, Bella, her eight-year-old son, Rua, were reportedly killed by Peterson's son, Teancum Petersen-Crofts.
