Thousands of Memphis Light, Gas and Water customers were left in the dark on Sunday morning during widespread blackouts in the city.
About 15,000 MLGW customers were without electricity at some point Sunday morning, according to the utility.
The most affected areas were downtown and the downtown area, where more than 4,000 people were without electricity around 10:30 am Cordova, Frayser and South Memphis also experienced a large number of blackouts.
The power was not restored in the city center before 3pm. As of 4:00 pm, MLGW stated that only 171 customers were still without electricity.

MLGW said on Twitter that the failures were due to a "hardware failure".
Heavy rains swept the Mid-South on Saturday night, causing debris from trees damaging the power lines.
