John Legend is an EGOT winner

That's right, John Legend is an official EGOT winner.

During the Creative Arts Emmy Awards weekend, the singer won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) as a producer of Jesus Christ Superstar in concert, completing previous victories for a GRAMMY, Oscar and Tony Award. (He is also nominated for the role of Outstanding Main Actor in a limited series or film for the NBC Special.)

Since 2006, Legend has got a total of 10 GRAMMY, including the best new artist and the best R & B album. The 39-year-old artist won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2015 for "Glory Selma, and he recently won a Tony Award in 2017 as a co-producer of jitney, who won the prize for the best recovery of the game.

"Be part of Jesus Christ Superstar has been one of my favorite experiences in my career, "said Legend in a statement following the appointments. Such a wonderful show, such a wonderful team. I could not be more proud of what we all did together and I am very grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Speaking with ET over the summer, Legend admitted that it would be "pretty incredible" to become an EGOT winner. "I never thought of it as a goal," he said. "But when I got close, I thought," That would be really cool. "

The legend was not the only one to obtain EGOT status. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, who also won the missing Emmys for their work on the NBC special. In total, Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert won five awards at the ceremony.

The 70th edition of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards was held over two days, from September 8 to September 9 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A price distribution will be broadcast on Saturday, September 15 at 8 pm. ET / PT on FXX.
