A Border Patrol officer was shot dead Sunday morning as he was driving near the US-Mexico border near the San Ysidro entry port, between San Diego and Tijuana, according to reports.

Fox 5 San Diego reported that the officer was not injured during the incident and that the shots were fired from the Mexican side. The agent would have accelerated.

Mexican authorities reportedly arrested two men, one with a firearm.

At least two bullets hit the driver's door, the Los Angeles Times reported. The FBI is investigating.
