ANKARA (Reuters) – A senior Iranian security official said Tehran would respond to any hostile action against the country and that the "hit and run" era was over, the press agency reported on Monday. semi-official Tasnim.

Relations between Iran and the United States have tightened again since Washington abandoned an international nuclear deal with Tehran and reinstated the sanctions, with the Trump administration warning it would exert "maximum pressure" on Iran.

"Tehran will respond to all hostile measures against our country ten times.We are able to protect ourselves in all areas," said Ali Shamkhani, Iranian Secretary of State, National Security Council, as said.

"Iran's recent reaction to Iraqi Kurdistan is an example of Tehran's response to any threat," he added.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Elite (IRGC) fired seven missiles in an attack on Iranian-based dissidents in Iraq, which killed at least 11 people on Saturday, the Iranian media reported on Sunday.
