A burglary suspect in a Manhattan store was attacked with bottles, glass jars; injured old woman

East Side, Manhattan (WABC) –

A manhunt is underway after a man was photographed during two violent robberies on the same day in Manhattan.

The first incident took place at 12:45 inside Seward Park Liquors, Ludlow Street, in the Lower East Side. Sunday.

Police said the suspect approached a 41-year-old employee and threatened him with a bottle of alcohol if he did not give him all the money in the register.

The suspect then started throwing bottles at him.

The victim's father, John DeBlasio, is the owner of the company and talked about the attack on his son.

"He was throwing bottles like crazy, like 10 bottles," he said. "He was a loose cannon, he was out of his mind." (My son "just said," Calm down, take things gently. "

When the employee came out of the store, the suspect opened the register and took off with $ 200 in cash.

"My son has a lion's heart, a heart of gold," said DeBlasio. "He did not want to hurt him."

A little over an hour later, police said that the same suspect had entered Reno Fashion on LaGuardia Place in Greenwich Village.

The suspect is accused of assaulting two employees, a 66-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman.

The suspect allegedly punched and kicked the two employees, hitting the employee's head with several glass jars and a large ceramic pot.

He then tried to withdraw money from the registry before he ran away.

Both victims suffered numerous cuts to the head and were taken to Bellevue Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The person is described as a black man aged 40 to 60 with a bald head.

In the first incident, he wore an orange tank top, blue jeans and red sneakers. In the second incident, he was wearing an orange baseball cap, an orange t-shirt and blue jeans.
