Husbands of the world, take notes.
On Sunday, John Legend won at Creative Arts Emmys for co-producing Jesus Christ Superstar in concert, thus becoming one of EGOT's youngest winners and the first African-American man to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony – but he immediately brought to light his wife Chrissy Teigen.
"We're inspired by each other," said Legend, 39, on the occasion of his marriage to Teigen, 32, after accepting the award. "She inspires my songs, she inspires me to want to be a better husband and a better father. We fully support each other in everything we do. I support her in her career and in everything she does. And I expect her to win Emmys herself for all the great work she does. "
"She is a dynamic and dynamic personality, and I fell in love with her long before the rest of America," he added. "But now America has fallen in love with her too, and she inspires me every day."
The legend admitted that he had never even imagined reaching the EGOT status when he embarked on his career. (He now has 10 Grammys to his credit, won an Oscar in 2015 for his song "Glory" featured in Selma and won a Tony in 2017 for his role as co-producer for producing jitney.)
"When I entered the world of music, my dream was to win Grammys and to have a lot of success as a musician, to sell a lot of records, to tour around the world as a musician. interpreter, "he said. "But I never dreamed of winning an EGOT – I did not know what it was at the time. I think the projects we have done to get EGOT have really been huge collaborative efforts. Legend, who played Jesus in the live production of NBC, is also nominated for an outstanding actor in a limited series or movie, which will be announced at Primetime Emmys next week.
On Sunday night, Teigen celebrated her husband's accomplishment with a video of adding her brand new Emmy to her wall of trophies. After Legend climbs onto a piano stool to award the prize on the top shelf, Teigen says, "Perfect."
In the blink of an eye to the children's show Arthur – whose protagonist aardvark Legend has been compared to – Teigen wrote the post, "And I say hey, what kind of a wonderful day."
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, organized by Saturday Night LiveMichael Che and Colin Jost will be broadcast live on NBC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 17th.
