Alec Baldwin knows what it takes to make a marriage work – after all, he's been to the alley twice now – so he shares some marital wisdom with niece Hailey Baldwin.
The actor remained relatively silent about his niece's engagement with Justin Bieber until Sunday etalk at The public premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"People who are getting married young – and they are very young – I want them to just spend time together," said Baldwin, 60. "Obviously, he, in particular, has this crazy superstar career."
He added, "I'm a little older than both, but I got married recently, a few years ago. And my wife [Hilaria Baldwin] and I had four children in four and a half years. We have many small children.
Baldwin has been married to Hilaria, 34, since 2012. The couple shares her daughter Carmen Gabriela, 5, her son Rafael Thomas, 3, her son Leonardo Ángel Charles, 1, and her son Romeo Alejandro David, 4 months. Baldwin is also the father of Ireland Baldwin, 22, with whom he shares his first wife, Kim Basinger.

For the father of five, spending time with his family became extremely important, but it was not always the case.
"The fact is, all the work I do now is based on my family," Baldwin explained. "I was offered movies where they say," Leave the city for five weeks. And no, we can not travel with your family. We do not have that in the budget. And I go because I do not want to be far from my family. And I hope they realize it.
In adding his last words of wisdom to his niece, Baldwin said, "If you want to have a successful marriage, you must be together. You have to stay together.
Bieber, 24, proposed to Hailey during a trip to the Bahamas in July. The singer and model, 21, was previously out of stock in 2016. This summer, the couple returned to their relationship and made official things on July 7.

Although the decision to commit is made quickly enough, the couple is in no hurry to walk down the aisle.
"They still do not want a long commitment, but they do not hurry either," a source told PEOPLE in August. "It was getting very intense and they realized that they wanted to be engaged for a while."
The source added, "It's not like they need to hurry – they're both so young. They do not slow things down because they do not know if they want to get married; they absolutely want to get married.
So, does Uncle Alec know about the wedding of the singer and the model?
"I do not know any details," he admitted. "I know nothing!"
