Nia Franklin was crowned Sunday night in the new Miss America, bringing back the honor to New York State.
In her acceptance speech, the 24-year-old said: "It took a lot of perseverance to get here" and thanked her family for all their support.
But there is much more to Franklin than his determination to win the crown.

1 – Health is a passion that is close to his heart.
Franklin thanked his family last night after the victory, including his father, who survived cancer.
In an Instagram post, she recounted her fight against lymphoma and how she helped save her life with a stem cell transplant.

Did you know that I was once a patient in a CMN hospital? When my father was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's T-cell lymphoma, he had chemotherapy but relapsed twice. Last month, she released a video in an effort to convince everyone to support Children's Miracle Network's not-for-profit hospitals, where she donated stem cells for her father's treatment.

2 – She has loved music all her life.
Franklin, who has performed an opera song for the talent part of the competition, is also a champion of arts education.

According to her bio candidate, she has been passionate about music since childhood.
"I composed my first song at the age of six," she wrote in bio. "My dedication to the arts influenced my education choices, leading to a master's degree in music composition, and although I was a minority in my school, I connected with my peers because of our mutual love for the arts will bring my zeal for music and performance, and will be a strong support for the arts in education. "
She also has Grammy aspirations.
3 – She has adorable fans.
Franklin's mother teaches Grade 4 and you can be sure that the whole class will celebrate its great victory.

Franklin has also published in the past his love for travel.
