The Georgia School begins to paddle students as a discipline

HEPHZIBAH, Georgia (AP) – Pupil students are now a disciplinary policy in a Georgian charter school and parents who do not agree must allow up to five days of suspension for their children.

WRDW-TV reports that the Georgia School for Innovation and the Classics sent parents a letter last week asking permission to hit children with a wooden paddle. Superintendent Jody Boulineau says that kindergarten to Grade 9 received just over 100 forms and that one-third of them agreed to use the paddle.

Boulineau says that corporal punishment will not be used often and that the only threat will be a deterrent.

The form states that students will be spanked on the buttocks in a closed door office and should not be hit more than three times.
