Fans who were in love with the odd-loving "Joe Grocery" Amabile and Kendall Long were shocked when she ended Monday's episode. Bachelor in Paradise.
"I planned to go as a couple," says Amabile, 31. "I was blind. I was very angry because I still had very strong feelings for her.
Despite the fact that he had mentioned an engagement before Long, 26, had thrown it away, Amabile said he was only "joking" about the proposal at the end of the show.

In the end, Amabile says he thinks he knows why Long may have ended things. "I think the idea of me has always frightened me," he says. "We are polar opposites, totally different people. I am not like the people she has ever attended and vice versa. I think she was probably just afraid that it would be real.
Long admits to PEOPLE that his strong feelings scared him. "I kept running away from the fact that I was falling in love with him," she says. "I went in paradise Thinking that you need to date, you must be open minded, you have to experience people. So I thought I could not hook myself to a person all the time.
Long continues: "I was also so scared of hurting myself. My fear was to think, okay, it's awesome Paradise, but it scared me to think that I would invest in him and that it would break after the end of the romantic beach vacation.

Still, long teases that we might not have heard the last of Kendall and Joe.
"I immediately felt a regret as soon as Joe left," she says. "In the plane leaving I was like, what did I just do? I wanted to follow him and I did not do it. And it's something that I regret. But where Joe and I ended up on the beach is certainly not the end of our story. A lot of things happen during the reunion!
