Eve scheduled for Mac Miller in Pittsburgh hometown

Members of the Pittsburgh music community planned a vigil for Mac Miller in a local park that was of particular importance to the late rapper. Mac Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, died Friday from a drug overdose at the age of 26.

The day before will be held at Frick Park, also known as Blue Slide Park, Tuesday at 17h, according to Facebook. Blue Slide Park is the name of Miller's first album, released in 2011, which debuted at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. The event is hosted by a local label, Nightfall Records.

"We would like to gather the city in full force for this legendary icon," reads in the invitation. "Mac deserves to be sent with an evening where he celebrates his life, discusses his difficulties and remembers his stories; especially for his emblematic work that brought joy to the lives of all who listened.

Artists are also invited to paint, draw and bring other creations to the vigil, according to the invitation. About 2,500 people confirmed their presence on the Facebook event page.

Mac Miller was pronounced dead at 7:51 am on Sept. 7 at his home in Studio City, California, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Department confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE.

On Monday, PEOPLE confirmed that the autopsy was complete and that the cause of death had been postponed pending additional tests, which could last for months. But one source previously told PEOPLE that the rapper had entered cardiac arrest after appearing to be suffering from a drug overdose.

"Malcolm McCormick, known and loved by fans like Mac Miller, died tragically at the age of 26," said his family in a statement to PEOPLE. "He was a bright light in this world for his family, his friends and his fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no other details as to the cause of his death at this time. "
