Tropical depression potential in Texas

We are watching the Gulf of Mexico and Hurricane Florence closely in the coming days.

A disturbance in the south-central Gulf of Mexico will shift northwesterly in the next few days. The National Hurricane Center now says a tropical depression could form on Thursday or Friday at 60% as disturbances cross the western Gulf of Mexico. This could lead to heavy rains and flash floods in parts of Texas throughout the weekend.

The chances of rain in North Texas range from 20 to 30% during the weekend. Given the high humidity, scattered rains in many showers will probably develop, affecting mainly our southern counties.

Meanwhile, the major hurricane Florence is expected to have catastrophic effects on the Carolinas on Friday, likely with winds of category 2 or 3. It could possibly come off and bring heavy rains and floods to the Carolinas and Virginias.
