College Sports: 5 Things TCU Fans Need to Know About Ohio State: Buckeyes Have Talented Young QBs

Here are five things that TCU fans need to know about the third week's opponent of Horned Frogs, the state of Ohio:

Still not urban

Before the start of the season, Ohio State suspended three games for head coach Urban Meyer for mishandling family violence charges. This is old news, but it is worth mentioning again that the Buckeyes did not suffer because of it. Ohio State outscored its opponents 129-34 in two games. So no, the absence of Meyer on the sideline did not stop the Buckeyes from doing business as some people thought. That said, Oregon State and Rutgers are not exactly at the TCU level. Preparing a team during the week is one thing. But if we talk about adjustments in the game, it must be thought that Gary Patterson would have an edge over OSU interim head coach Ryan Day. We will see what happens on Saturday.

The past is good news and bad

ESPN announced that GameDay College would return to Fort Worth this weekend, and this is always a good omen for TCU. Frogs are 6-0 of all time when GameDay College covers their match and 2-0 by holding the morning show. What else? Patterson is 5-1 against the Big Ten teams of his career.

This will be the seventh meeting of the TCU and Ohio State, the Buckeyes holding a 4-1-1 series advantage. TCU is 5-5 in its last 10 games against the top five teams and only 2-2 at AT & T.

Young QB on both sides

Sophomores Shawn Robinson and Michael Collins both played quarterback this season for TCU, which is quite similar to what we saw in Columbus.

Dwayne Haskins (also a sophomore) seems to be OSU's entrenched starter, having made nearly 80% of his passes this season and 87% last week against the Scarlet Knights. He threw for 546 yards and nine touchdowns in two games.

He is a smuggler, and therefore more comparable to Collins than Robinson.

Robinson's resemblance can be seen in Tate Martell, a Buckeye rookie, who ranked in two quarters with two threats from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. The former four-star prospect is not the size of Robinson, but the flexibility and skill to launch are definitely there. Last week against Rutgers, he completed 100 percent of his passes (10 for 10) for 121 yards and a score.

This line D, however

If you've been impressed by TCU's Ben Banogu, get ready to watch Nick Bosa from Ohio State.

The Buckeyes boast one of the best defensive lines in the country and Bosa has terrorized everyone on his way to the present (five tackles for defeat, three sacks).

The O-Frogs line looked very good against average competition, but that's the week when young people from the unit could be exposed. Robinson could have a lot to face him, so he hopes he will not take too many shots and he can quickly get the ball.

Major implications in the playoffs

If the TCU really wants to become a competitor of Black-Horse College Football Playoff, it's a win that frogs must have. Southern and SMU are certainly not going to get a lot of respect from the committee. A win against the Buckeyes would be a great acceleration of recovery, and that goes without saying.

The situation of the Ohio State is more unique.

Defeating TCU in a semifinal match without his head coach would hurt the players. Again, how OSU would be penalized by a loss as Meyer is not a coach? And could a TCU victory be devalued because of Meyer's suspension?
