SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Thursday, General Motors recalled more than a million pickup trucks and SUVs because of an electrical problem.

GM officials said the problem was when people were trying to do a low-speed ride. The power steering can be turned off and on again.
The problem may be questionable in some people and even increase their chances of ending up in an accident.
The electronic problem can also cause the deactivation of other dashboard equipment, such as radio, stabilization, chimes, door locks, air conditioning or cruise control.
The two vans affected by the recall are the 2012-2015 Chevrolet Silverado LD and the 2015 Sierra LD.
There are SUVs that share the same electronics, and GM engineers have discovered similar problems in low-speed rotation in the following vehicles:
- 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2012-15 GMC Yukon
- 2015 Chevrolet Suburban
- 2015 Cadillac Climbing
Up to now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported 20 accidents, two injuries and no deaths due to the problem.
Rich Harvey, of Canton, runs a 2012 GMC Yukon and says he likes it.
"It's a great car for me. I had only a minor talk to make, but this is the first time I've heard of this reminder, "said Harvey.
Harvey is a salesman and a family man, and he now says that he is aware he will be on the lookout for problems.
"I'm going to take it for them to flash as fast as possible because I'm on the road all the time," he said.
Traditionally, you should wait for a reminder by mail to have your vehicle repaired. This is not the case this time.
GM dealers already have the software to reflash the vehicle so you can call your dealer now and get an appointment to get your fix and be on your way.
The recall is a continuation of the same reminder that GM officials announced last year for the 2014 Silverado.
