JLS star Aston Merrygold lent his support to Oritse Williams after Williams was accused of raping a woman in a hotel.

Williams, 31, is accused of raping a fan in a hotel room in Wolverhampton after a concert in December 2016.

A West Midland police spokesman said: "The police charged two men with sexual offenses following an alleged rape at a hotel in Wolverhampton in December 2016.

Oritse Williams, 31, of Croydon, London, has been charged with rape.

"Jamien Nagadhana, 31, from Hounslow, London, was charged with assault by penetration."

A statement issued at the time of Williams' arrest by his representatives indicated that the singer had denied these accusations.

He said: "All we want to say at that time is that Oritse denies the allegations against him.

"The question is in the hands of the police and it would be totally wrong for us to comment further."
