As Florence reached the shores of North Carolina on Friday, a town some 100 kilometers to the north was among the most affected areas so far, with about 150 people stranded and 200 people already rescued, according to reports. officials.
"We are doing everything possible so that we can quickly bring these people to a shelter," said New Bern Mayor Dana Outlaw "today."

The new Berne police imposed a 24-hour curfew from 7 am Friday, as emergency services rushed to pull people out of their flooded homes.
A tweet from the city of New Bern said residents could expect a potentially deadly mix of high winds, storm surges, rainfall and floods.
According to the most recent figures from the city of New Bern, nearly two-thirds of the city's inhabitants of about 30,000 were without electricity. More than 370,000 customers throughout the country are without electricity.
While the Category 1 storm landed at Wrightsville Beach at 7:15 am on Friday, the National Weather Service announced tornado warnings in a band from North Carolina, including New Bern.
