NEW YORK (AP) – Aaron Judge's wrist has had a big hand.
The reigning defenseman of the year reverted to the right field for the first time since his right wrist was broken seven weeks ago. The crowd of 40,138 spectators at Yankee Stadium greeted him with a 0 pair on the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
"Enough crazy," said the judge.
Masahiro Tanaka (12-5), who was hoping to play a wild card match against Oakland, extended his 20-run series and earned his third straight start.
The judge has had no luck in his two innings, and he is limited to defense and baserunning at the moment. Manager Aaron Boone said Judge could return as a full-time player in this season, which ends September 23.
"I was nervous there, just standing in the outfield," the judge said. "Just shaking your nerves now, that's fine, so when I get that first bat, it'll be like I've never gone."
The judge had not played since July 26, when he was hit by a throw from Jakob Junis of Kansas City. The judge said the wrist was still aching and would not heal completely before the off season.
The judge survived a member of the field team while fans cheered him when he ran on the pitch and received another ovation a minute later when he was introduced by public address announcer Paul Olden. The judge ran to the base of the right field wall after his lashes, just in front of the judge's chambers. He handed the ball to a first-rate woman who passed it on to a very smiling girl next to her.
"You could feel the buzz there," said Boone.
Before the ninth, the judge threw his warm-up ball into the upper deck. New York initially predicted that he would be sidelined by the injury for three weeks, but the pain persisted and he missed 45 games.
The great and gregarious sophomore will probably have a simulated game next week before he beats a real one.
"In the canoe, the mere fact of having and being present is felt throughout the team," said Andrew McCutchen.
McCutchen won his third home game since the Yankees acquired him from San Francisco on Aug. 31, allowing Giancarlo Stanton to be primarily a designated hitter. McCutchen doubled before the first and scored the first round of New York. To make room for Judge, McCutchen left for the first time since 2009 at Triple-A.
"I was finally able to see him and Stanton taking batting exercises, and I saw some pretty awesome things," McCutchen said. "I know the people who have been here all year, for them it 's probably normal. This is not normal.
New York has improved to 13-4 against Toronto this season and has remained 1½ match in front of Athletics for the October 3 home game. Dominating with a big gap, Tanaka canceled eight in six innings and allowed four hits. . Luis Severino and J.A. Happ also are possible starters against the A's.
"The way they launch in the last two weeks certainly matters," said Boone. "We also take into account who we play, where we play."
Luke Voit hit a two-run double that ran a first-round run of five innings against Marco Estrada (7-12), who tied the game most by allowing eight points and which lasted only 2/2. 3 sleeves. Didi Gregorius added his 24th circuit, one less than his career.
Toronto lost its fourth straight game and, at 65-82, ensured consecutive loss seasons for the first time since 2012-13.
"We are in reconstruction mode now, so you are going to take your big ones," said manager John Gibbons.
FINISH
Luis Cessa got his second win in the league. It was the biggest margin of laundering victory in New York since a 15-0 win over the Mets on June 14, 2009.
TRAINER ROOM
Blue Jays: RHP Joe Biagini was activated from the 10-day DL after being handed over from a tense left diagonal that had spread out since August 31 and launched a seventh shot. Toronto has also restored C Russell Martin's paternity leave.
Yankees: Injured closer, Aroldis Chapman is scheduled to start another bull session on Saturday, a simulated match on Monday, and could be activated in the middle of next week.
FOLLOWING
LHP CC Sabathia (7-6, 3.54) starts for New York on Saturday and SSPR Sean Reid-Foley (1-3, 6.86) for Toronto. Sabathia has launched 139 2/3 innings and has probably four starts to go. He would get a bonus of $ 500,000 for 155 rounds and another $ 500,000 in the unlikely event that he reaches 165.
