Charleston International's runways were reopened on Saturday afternoon after the governor lifted the evacuation order from the area.
"It is open now," said airport CEO Paul Campbell shortly before noon.
Delta Air Lines planned to operate "some" flights Saturday, he added.
"We hope that it will be fully operational tomorrow," he said.
A spokeswoman for JetBlue Airways said the carrier planned to resume service Sunday.
Campbell said workers at the Transportation Security Administration and the local air traffic control tower were "waiting" for Governor Henry McMaster to lift the hurricane evacuation order in the Charleston area. This decision took effect at noon.
"We are ready to leave now," said Campbell. "If we could have a flight here now, we can handle it."
The tracks at Charleston International were closed Wednesday in response to Hurricane Florence, which was downgraded to a tropical storm Friday after landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The closures resulted in about 320 arrivals and departures canceled until Friday. About 80 flights were scheduled for Saturday.
The airport site has announced three departures Saturday: Delta at JFK in New York and Atlanta at 17h. and 18:30, respectively, and a Southwest Airlines flight to Nashville at 18:15.
The rest was canceled at midday.
The airport suggested passengers check with their carrier for cancellations, assistance with booking changes and travel waivers related to the weather.
