Childish Gambino rapper Donald Glover has filed a new lawsuit in an ongoing dispute with Glassnotes Records. In the suit, Glover says the independent label responsible for the release of his first three albums of Childish Gambino owes him more than $ 10,000 in streaming royalties. The lawsuit alleges that this error in calculating royalties is a violation of their license agreement.
Glover's complaint follows a complaint filed by the label last July about an alleged $ 700,000 streaming royalty that the company has never paid. "Donald Glover has claimed that he owes 95% of SoundExchange royalties when we are required by law and by contract to share these 50/45 royalties," said a Glassnote spokesperson in a statement with Pitchfork. "We are not asking Donald Glover for anything but simply that we are able to keep the amounts that are legally and legally ours and have already been paid to us."
Glover's latest suit alleges that Glassnote in fact retained 100% of the rapper's SoundExchange's net royalties, in contradiction with the label's previous statements. Glover seeks the dismissal of the complaint and its due royalties, as well as other damages and interest.
Glover released three studio albums with Glassnote: 2011 Camp, 2013 Because of the Internet, and "Wake up, my love!" in 2016. Earlier this year, he signed an agreement with RCA.
