Taco Bell employee fired for refusing to serve non-Spanish speaker

His work is lost in translation.

A Florida Taco Bell employee was deported for refusing to serve a non-Spanish speaking client.

In a video posted on Facebook this week, English-speaking Alexandria Montgomery argues with a worker driving the fast-food chain.

The employee explains in Spanish "No hablo ingles" or "I do not speak English".

As the sequence continues, the unidentified employee explains that Montgomery holds the line in place – and then begins to close the window. The employee then asks Montgomery to move and threatens to call the police, adding in Spanish "This is Hialeah," to which Montgomery responds: "This is America."

The incident occurred Wednesday in Hialeah, the largest Hispanic population of any city in the United States, according to the Miami Herald. The 2010 census indicated that 89% of the community spoke Spanish as their first or second language, Fox News said.

Montgomery left the scene without being able to place his order.

A representative of Taco Bell told El Nuevo Herald that the incident "does not meet the expectations of our customer service".

"We quickly worked with the client to make sure this did not happen again," said a spokesperson.

Taco Bell later stated that the employee no longer works at the restaurant.

Montgomery has been seen offering a $ 100 gift card to the chain under repair.

"A gift card will not solve the problem, it will not do me justice," she told NBC6. "Do not try to sweep it under the carpet."

According to a recent Harris poll, Taco Bell was voted the country's best Mexican restaurant.
