A police situation closed Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Sunday morning.
according to Sky Harbor's Twitter account, the Phoenix Police Service checks "something as a precaution and part of Terminal 4 is cleared while they do it".
A spokeswoman for the TSA told the Arizona family that the police search an unattended car in the area.
The TSA official added that a suspicious vehicle was parked outside and that the owners were untraceable.
According to Sky Harbor, part of Terminal 4 is evacuated while the police are checking.
Sky Harbor officials added that airlines "are aware that passengers have trouble getting to their doors."
It is unknown at this time when the terminal will reopen.
