According to first estimates from North Carolina, as much as 20% of tobacco plants were damaged by the strong winds of Hurricane Florence. However, the limited duration of blackouts was a positive sign for already stored tobacco.

Altria Group (NYSE: MO) has not yet updated its crop losses in North Carolina or damage to stored leaves.

Shares of Altria (MO) rose 1.9% over the last week, positively impacting the company's threat of an e-cigarette crackdown by the FDA having more than offset concerns over the damage caused by Hurricane Florence.
