The Buffalo Bills are so bad that Vontae Davis apparently decided he could not play another half for the team.
Davis, 30, was mysteriously absent for the second half of Buffalo's 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. According to Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, it was because Davis was so fed up that he retired at half-time.

The story was confirmed by Bills head coach Sean McDermott, who said Davis had retired from the match at halftime, although the Buffalo coach chose not to go into details.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Davis settled in his street clothes and left.
It was a defeat that a second secondary Bills could not afford and that certainly did not help Buffalo's attempts to slow down Philip Rivers who finished with 23 finishes on 27 attempts for 256 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions .
Presumably, staying in the middle of the game is a breach of contract that could undo some of the guarantees of Davis' $ 5 million one-year deal with the Bills in February. In addition, retiring Sunday does not mean that Davis will be free to return in 2019 with a different team.
If this is really the end for Davis, it does not look like the end of any other career in the NFL. And for the Bills, it's bad news at the beginning of the year.
