JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This time, the Jacksonville Jaguars did not let go.

They continued to hammer, squeeze and pulverize the Patriots.

With Blake Bortles looking like, well, Tom Brady, the Jaguars finished a 31-20 win against New England in front of a festive crowd at the TIAA Bank Field Sauna Sunday.

Bortles jumped for 377 yards and four touchdowns, while the Jaguars flirted with another second-half plunge against the AFC defending champions – then regrouped to repel them.

Dede Westbrook's comeback in the mid-fourth quarter was marked by a Bortles pass in the center of the field.

The Westbook game was appropriate as it represented a distinct pattern for how the Jaguars stole Bill Belichick's defense: they killed them with crosses.

No, the big win does not make up for the collapse of the AFC championship game in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in January, when the Jaguars took a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.

But this provided a moment of undeniable well-being for Duval County and marked a growth measure.

Unlike the AFC match, Jacksonville (2-0) remained aggressive at the attack, while the defense did not fade under the pressure of a potential return under the guidance of Brady – or a thermal index of 107 degrees. for Jaguars.

It was hot. In more ways than one.

Three other things we learned

Brady's cloak is missing: There was no Superman moment of TB12. In fact, Brady was downright human as he tried to win the Patriots (1-1) against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Of course, there were chances with Jacksonville turnovers on consecutive possessions in the second half. But a golden opportunity on the Jaguars 'territory, created by Bortles' interception (aided by the Austin Seferian-Jenkins needle), sums up the day well: Brady was sacked by Dante Fowler. He finished with 234 passing yards and two touchdowns. Maybe Gronk has the cloak. This is a clue, as off-roader Rob Gronkowski was also absent (two catches, 15 yards), which was the last thing the Patriots needed while being so light on the weapons to support Brady.

You can only hope to contain it: Keelan Cole pitted the Patriots for 116 yards in seven receptions – highlighted by an astonishing one-handed seizure along the sideline that was so reminiscent of Odell Beckham Jr. Keelan's booty who? The second-year receiver, having more representatives with Marqise Lee's injury at the end of the season, seems quite capable of making a name for himself as an emerging playmaker. Dating back to last season, he has produced 100 yards in three of his last five regular season games. After having burned Eric Rowe for the 22-yard freestyle in the first quarter, he finished the race by beating Rowe for a 24-yard run on a course that earned him the 14-zip.

No Fournette, no problem: The Jaguars found no centerpiece of running back Leonard Fournette, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Giants' first victory. It barely condemned them. The Jaguars still dominated the Patriots, 104 yards at 82. T.J. Yeldon won 58 yards in 10 runs, while Corey Grant added 13 yards and 56 yards in six receptions. And Bortles also contributed to the attack, with 35 yards on six runs, including a 10-yard run that moved the chains to third spot while the match was tightened at the end of the fourth quarter.
