WWE Hell in a Cell 2018 may have marked the beginning of Jeff Hardy's career, thanks to Randy Orton.

Jeff, like his brother Matt, seems to be at the crossroads of his career, which could end in a premature retirement, especially considering how Jeff's feud with Orton was settled. Matt, of course, seems to be moving from the active performer on stage to the backstage producer. Matt "takes a long vacation" while suffering from a serious injury during which his pelvis has begun to melt into his lower back, and he recently received a huge start at a live event of the WWE after working at SummerSlam is the next step in his career. After all, Matt has confirmed everything but he retired at a home show this weekend.
Judging by the appearance of things, his brother Jeff could soon follow.
"The Charismatic Enigma" would have faced multiple injuries resulting from a career of more than 20 years defined by its notorious high-risk style. This summer, Jeff reportedly suffered from a kind of nerve injury that would have numbed his fingers, while he also reportedly limited Swanton's finishing movement due to low back problems. Jeff died of a head injury in September 2017, months after his triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania.
Now you have to wonder if we are nearing the end of the road for both Hardy Boyz.
Jeff has been subtly referring to retirement in recent interviews, noting that he would like to have another Ultimate Deletion match before he's finished. A report was also released in July saying Hardy was soon to "take a little time", probably because of his recent series of injuries that apparently put his career at risk, just like his brother Matt. Of course, anyone who has seen the Hardys perform in the last two decades knows that what made them stand out is the way they constantly put their bodies on the line as two of the biggest daredevils in the world. Matt Reby's wife also made a huge revelation on Busted Open (h / t WrestlingInc) last month, stating that Matt's contract expires in March 2019, by which time the future Hall of Famer will have time to decide:
Matt is currently going through a transition period. He's not really sure what he's going to do. His contract is up in March, which I'm not sure many people are aware of. But there is some kind of decision to make at this point as to whether he should continue his career in the ring or whether he should pursue something different, what it would be. totally ready to do and would be excited to do it, I feel like.
What's remarkable here is that Matt's contract expires almost exactly two years after he returned to WrestleMania 33 in April 2017, suggesting that he signed a two-year contract to return to the company. Because Matt came back with his brother Jeff as a tag team, the assumption is that Jeff's contract could also expire at that time, which means we could see the end of both Hardys' careers in a very near future.
Does this mean that they will never fight again? Maybe, maybe not, because Matt himself said that he could end up in Ring of Honor or Impact Wrestling again. The Hardys were the hottest act and the biggest draw on the independent stage before returning to WWE last year. It is therefore always possible that Matt and / or Jeff are more likely to work than a small number of games. a producer or coping with the very difficult and demanding road program of WWE. But with a litany of serious injuries and possibly ending their career for both stars, the next step may be to hang up the shoes for good.
Matt already seems to be half-way through, and considering how Jeff hit a table violently during his Orton match at Hell in a Cell, WWE certainly seemed to lay the groundwork for Jeff, maybe not for always but at least for an extended period.

While questions remain about the future of Matt's ring, these same questions are becoming more and more common for Jeff, who has slowed down and does not quite hit the Swanton Bomb in the same way as before. but still takes those huge risks. this apparently puts his career in jeopardy every time he gets on the ring.
After all, how often do you ask yourself: does Jeff move away from retirement?
