County Health Department to administer the flu vaccine

The Montgomery County Department of Health (MCHD) would like to remind everyone that as the fall begins, the flu season is approaching.

No one can predict when the flu season will actually begin, but most flu cases occur from October to May. In recent seasons, most infections occurred in January and February.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a person should receive the vaccine as soon as it is available. It takes about two weeks for protection to develop after firing and protection lasts about a year. In addition, the CDC recommends that all people six months of age and older should receive the flu shot. By getting the flu shot, people can protect themselves from the flu and avoid spreading the flu to others.

MCHD received its first flu vaccine shipment and can administer the vaccine at the Hillsboro office from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Mondays and Fridays from 8am to 5.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and at the Litchfield office Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm

The Department of Health will soon be holding vaccination clinics in Litchfield, Nokomis, Hillsboro, Coffeen, Witt, Irving, Fillmore, Panama, Donnellson, Taylor Springs, Raymond and Farmersville communities. The schedule of the clinic will be published as soon as it will be available.

The cost of the vaccine is $ 30.

MCHD would also like to invite any company interested in providing vaccines to its employees (at least five) to contact the Hillsboro office to arrange for a nurse to be on site and administer these vaccines.

Please note that the Health Department accepts cash and checks and may also charge insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid and Medicaid MCO for vaccination.
