6 children, 1 adult wounded after the camel went wild at the circus

A camel ended up running wild and running in a Pittsburgh circus on Sunday, dragging a runner into a poignant experience and wounding six children.

The six children sustained minor injuries, but one of them broke his arm, officials said. An adult also suffered a minor injury during the incident.

The camel was apparently scared at an event organized by Shrine Circus at the PPG Paints Arena. WTAE.

"We had the circus for 69 years without incident," Shrine Circus chairman Paul Leavy told WTAE. "Unfortunately, it is the first and we are ready to do this stuff, we are assured for that, so we will see each other again and see what we are going to do next year.

The rides continued after the camel was closed and the second half of the circus continued as planned.

A video filmed by a participant showed that the camel was struggling as it crossed the ground of the crowded arena with a runner hanging on his back and two handlers had chased him. It is not known if the rider was one of the injured in the incident.

You can see people on the ground fendering to avoid the animal before the manipulators have mastered it after about 10 seconds.

An announcer can be heard in the arena saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, stay calm," as the parents hurriedly took the children off the ground.

"Pray for the circus girls and the mother who were traumatic," Ronald Smith, who shot the video, wrote on Facebook. "My first and last time go in a circus."
