Five baby squirrels saved after being found tied together by the tail

Five squirrels were saved after being found tied together by their tails.

It is thought that entanglement happened by chance with the giant knot that formed while the gray young moved around their nest and between them.

The grass, twigs and pieces of plastic were also intertwined in entanglement.

A member of the public discovered the strange scene in Wisconsin, United States, on Wednesday, and took them to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of the Humane Society, where veterinarians were working to release them.

"You can imagine how frightened and agonizing this squirrel and frantic energy ball was agitated and unruly (and nippy!), So our first step was to anesthetize them at the same time," the officials wrote on Facebook.

With the animals out, the vets spent 20 minutes unraveling what they called a "Gordian knot" squirrel and nesting material.

"It was impossible to tell who the tail belonged to, and we were more and more concerned because everyone had suffered varying degrees of tissue damage to the tail caused by circulatory impairment," the center writes.

But once loose, the squirrels remained apparently unaffected by entanglement.

"Maintenant, ils ont tous les yeux brillants, et trois des cinq sont" à queue touffue ", mais nous aurons besoin de tous les surveiller pendant quelques jours pour surveiller la nécrose de la queue causée par une diminution de la circulation sanguine", le centre dit.
