Outgoing President Joe Crowley was re-elected on Monday morning by the President of the Democratic Party of Queens, despite the loss of his own congressional elections in June to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Crowley, who lives in Virginia with his family but has a residence in Woodside, Queens, was elected by voice and with only four dissidents at a meeting at the Georgia Diner, a source told the meeting.
Crowley has been the leader of the party since 2006.
Hiram Monserrate, a former senator and city councilor, was elected Democratic District Leader last week, after serving two years for stealing public funds and cutting his girlfriend.
Monserrate and the other dissidents pushed Representative Greg Meeks to the position of County Chief.
A stunned participant said the 60 voters had acted as if Crowley had not lost his own election for the benefit of progressive star Ocasio-Cortez.
"They acted as never before. Buried their head at the bottom of the sand. It's amazing, "said the insider.
Councilor Rory Lancman, also District Chief, said he voted for Crowley.
He declined to comment.
But previously, he told The Post that Crowley was a good party president who helped the party seize legislative seats in the once-detained Republican town.
