A son reportedly beat and stabbed his father to death during a dispute over money and then threw the body near a campaign club from the main line in a murder case that It's held in two suburbs of Philadelphia.
Delaware County Attorney Kat Copeland on Monday joined Montgomery County Attorney Kevin Steele and Yeadon Police, Haverford and Lower Merion to announce homicide charges against Yeadon's Robert Coult III.
The body of 59-year-old elder Coult was found by employees at the Philadelphia Country Club on the side of Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne on Saturday morning. An autopsy revealed that he had died from blunt trauma and that he had been stabbed, according to Yeadon police.
"In this case, the accused brutally clubbed and repeatedly stabbed his own father to death," said Copeland.
Younger Coult hit his father several times over the head with a hammer during a small money fight, then went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed his father, said Copeland. Once the elder Coult died, the young Coult then used an electric saw to try to dismember the body.
Young Coult, a 30-year-old resident of Yeadon Borough in Delco, was arrested Monday morning for willful homicide, first degree murder, corpse abuse and related charges and sent to Delco Prison without bail.
Police responded to Coult Road's home in Providence Road, Yeadon, Sunday afternoon, after former Coult was found in a phone conversation with his girlfriend on Friday night.
They spoke to the residents of the house, then they put their finger on the young Coult who was then arrested and charged. Coult III confessed to killing his father and told investigators that he had sent evidence to various locations around Haverford Township, the police said. The investigators said that he had shown no remorse.
Investigators also found evidence of blood splashing at home and found video evidence showing the movements of the Coult III.
Young Coult claimed that his father had pushed him up a staircase before attacking him, Copeland said.
Coult III faces life in prison. It was not known whether Coult III had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
