Patriots would stop over in the trade to land Josh Gordon of Browns

The Cleveland Browns have promised they were going to get rid from Josh Gordon by Monday and it would seem that they finally have a team interested in an exchange for the big receiver in trouble.

according to on NFL.comthe Patriotes and the Browns "come close to an agreement" that would send Gordon to New England. However, the report noted that nothing is yet official, as both parties are trying to define the details of an agreement that would give Tom Brady an incredibly talented weapon.

Of course, the only problem with this weapon is that it is not always on the ground. The receiver has missed a total of 54 games in the last four seasons (2014-17) due to several NFL suspensions. However, if Gordon arrives in New England, he should be free to play as soon as he is in good health. Jason La Canfora, an NFL insider from CBS Sports, reported Saturday that the Browns' decision to separate from Gordon had nothing to do with a potential drug problem or impending suspension.

If Gordon lands in New England and can stay on the ground – and that's a big "if" – he could be an instant threat to the Patriots. The receiver led the league with 1,646 yards in 2013, despite playing only 14 games. The big problem for Gordon, however, is that he has not been able to stay eligible. Gordon has only spent a full season of 16 games, and it came in 2012.

Gordon had been hoping to be exchanged to the Cowboys or 49ers, but you must think that it will not have any problem to be sent to a competitor like the Patriots. The Patriots seem to be refueling on the receivers of the old Browns. In August, the team has also entered into a trade with Cleveland to acquire the former first-round pick Corey Coleman.
