LSU rose to 6th place in the Associated Press's college football poll after its second win in September against a top-ranked team.
Alabama, ranked first, strengthened its grip on number one on Sunday, receiving 58 first-place votes from the media panel. Clemson left second place for the first time this season. Georgia took second place behind the Crimson Tide, giving the Southeastern Conference the top two teams in the standings. Clemson is third with three first-place votes, followed by number 4 Ohio State and number 5 Oklahoma.
LSU has now moved from # 25 to season # 6 in three weeks.
The Tigers defeated Miami, preseason # 8, at Week 1 in Arlington, Texas, and beat Auburn Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn went from number 7 to number 9.
The loss of Wisconsin against BYU was the most surprising result of Saturday. The Badgers were three favorites in the touchdowns, but missed a last minute goal tied and lost 24-21 to Madison. The Big Ten had five teams in the top 14 to start the seasons and three (Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin) have already lost.
The BYU award was ranked # 25.
PAC-12 SLOP
The Big Ten has attracted a lot of attention for having a tough Saturday, with half of the league losing non-conference games. The Pac-12, specifically the Pac-12 South, also had a difficult time, although much of the damage was done after much of the time east of the Mississippi.
Southern California fell from the rankings after their second consecutive defeat, beating in Texas. Trojans have now been beaten 54-17 in the last two weeks. Arizona State also fell from the standings when it could not sustain its beautiful home win over Michigan State, losing to San Diego State.
During the conference, Utah was beaten at home by North Pacific No. 12 Pac-12, thwarting the Utes' chances of being ranked. UCLA dropped to 0-3 under Chip Kelly and Arizona finally managed to convince coach Kevin Sumlin to beat South Utah FCS.
Colorado is the only undefeated team in the Pac-12 South. Seems dark, but there are two seasons, the landscape was similar for the division. After the defeats of the USC and UCLA in early 2016, the Pac-12 South had no ranked team. In the end, Colorado, the eventual Pac-12 South champion, and Utah entered the rankings and finished in the top 25. USC also had a late season push behind Sam Darnold.

The other big engine in the right direction was Oklahoma State. The Cowboys jumped nine places to 15th after an impressive 44-21 win over Boise State, which was eliminated after being No. 17.

Three teams entered the rankings for the first time this season, with Boston College returning to the Top 25 for the first time since 2008.
The Eagles defeated Wake Forest on Thursday night to improve to 3-0 behind a dynamic attack by attacking midfielder A.J. Dillon and quarterback Anthony Brown. British Columbia has not won more than seven games since 2009. The 2008 team has won nine games and the Atlantic Division of ACC, but was last ranked on the 30th. November of the same year.
