Henry Winkler gets his first Emmy Win after 42 years of waiting

Henry Winkler has been playing for a long time, and during all these decades he has been a known name, only a few hugs escaped him. That changed during the 70th Emmy Awards when the old Happy Days Standout took the stage to accept its first Primetime Emmy. After 42 years of waiting, Winkler won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a humorous series for his rendition of Gene Cousineau in the drama series HBO. Barry.

Winkler was nominated for the first time at an Emmy in 1976, where he was named lead actor in a series of comedies for his performance of Arthur Fonzarelli. Winkler would be nominated for his work on Happy Days again in the next two years, but would eventually miss the price. Winkler was considered again in 1979 for his outstanding information program for his work on Who are DeBolts? [And Where Did They Get 19 Kids?]but would still miss the mark just before a long gap between the nominations.

Henry Winkler remained active in Hollywood in the late 70s, but it was only in 2000 that he found himself in the running, this time nominated in the humorous series for a role in _Battery Park. _But his appointment was revoked by the Academy prior to the broadcast of the awards. Apparently, the appearance of Winkler occurred after the deadline of the Academy, which means that he could not be on the ballot. Winkler would not get another shot at an Emmy before 2018, and as we have seen, the rest was history.
