The biggest fish in Jim Harbaugh's 2019 recruitment pond says he's coming to Ann Arbor.
Daxton Hill, a 5-star security guard at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced his commitment to Michigan on Tuesday.
Hill is the # 12 player in the 2019 class and # 1 in overall security.
"I thank God for putting me in this position and giving me the talent to play with my teammates," Hill wrote via Twitter. "I thank my team for improving (every day) and I would not be here without you, guys. Secondly, I would like to thank my parents for sacrificing their time to lead me to practices, games and support throughout this process. A huge (screaming) to my coach, Dwight Dobbins, for taking the time to coach and improve as a defensive. Coach Red Thompson, I appreciate that you are developing me as a student-athlete that I am today.
"I thank all the universities for recruiting me and for taking the time to invest in me. That being said, I will hire myself to the University of Michigan. Go blue."
Hill, the top prospect on the Michigan board, made an official visit to Michigan last weekend in the team's victory against EMS in Ann Arbor.
Without doubt one of the best impact players in America, Hill had over 25 deals and the interest of most elite programs in the country.
Last week, 247 Sports Analyst Steve Lorenz told the free press that Hill's engagement could be the "best win" of Harbaugh's term.
"I think he's good. I think this child is a stallion, "said Lorenz. "He would come in and play next year. Almost certainly.
Hill is the second-ranked 5-star prospect currently in the Michigan class in 2019, joining offensive / defensive lineman Christopher Hinton. The Michigan class now has 23 entries.
Harbaugh has now secured five-star (247 composite) hopes during his tenure in Michigan: defensive end Rashan Gary (# 1 overall) in 2016, receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones (# 12) overall) in 2017, Aubrey Salomon (n ° 23 in general) in 2017 and Hinton (n ° 24 in general) in 2019.
"I think it's just a good old-fashioned depth map," Lorenz said last week. "Alabama has a list of the top 100 guys waiting to be safe." Michigan has young players safe, but they do not have a guy like him – I think they can look him in the eyes , tell him that he can play next year and not lie at all.
"This guy is as sure as you are going to get some. It's massive. "
In terms of Hill's overall ranking in 2019, many scouts regard him as the fastest player in the group.
Judge Hill's youngest brother, the Oklahoma State Defender, Dax impressed the scouts with his comprehensive security capabilities: from physical descent to excellence in man-to-man coverage .
Something that the defensive coordinator, Don Brown, will surely be able to use to move forward.
"As physically impressive as any hope in this category, Hill has tested the cards and is the fastest in the country so far on the circuit, but he's more than just a simple athlete," he said. writes Barton Simmons. Hill's performance at The Opening this off season. "He was outstanding in the exercises, his film shows the natural cover ability and fitness and elite movement.
Hill recorded 71 tackles, 11 losses, five interceptions and scored four touchdowns last year as a junior.
