The details on what Marvel fans can expect from Disney's next streaming service have been kept secret, although a new report from Variety claims that some characters, such as Loki and Scarlet Witch, who have not yet won solo movies, will have their own series on the service. Disney currently has no comments on these reports.
According to the report, "each series should include six to eight episodes, Marvel Studios will produce the programs and Kevin Feige, the guru of [Marvel Cinematic Universe], should play a role in their development. "
It is obvious that Disney would do everything with these series, while stars like Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen would be expected to resume their roles for the series, the production value of each series being comparable to that of a feature film. The Marvel series of ABC, such as The agents of Marvel SHIELD or The agent Carter de Marvel, focused mainly on human traits, keeping the cost of each series relatively low. On Netflix, series like The fun of Marvel or Jessica Jones from Marvel have explored street heroes, who do not need to portray supernatural occurrences or cosmic realms seen in films from the film universe of Marvel.
Regarding how all these new series on multiple platforms will work together, the report notes that "Marvel TV Studios and Disney have been active with broadcasts including ABC SHIELD Agents and Netflix Daredevil, but sources say that these shows will remain under the banner of Marvel TV with these limited series placed under Marvel Studios. "
In addition to these newly reported series, Disney has already announced that it will deliver to the audience the first series Star Wars live, developed by Jon Favreau and whose production budget is estimated at $ 100 million. A Marvel series would probably require a similar budget, making the next service an ambitious undertaking.
After starting in 2008, Marvel fans have called for a variety of new heroes to get their own standalone movies, such as Black Widow who debuted in The Iron Man 2, despite Marvel Studios playing the fear of the spy finding his own movie. A limited series could be a way to explore the characters that the most-senior do not want to devote to an entire movie.
The streaming service is scheduled to launch next year and is intended to accommodate Disney's extensive programming library, including the Marvel and Star Wars properties, in addition to countless Disney classics.
